Movie Review
Monster-in- law was definitely a waste of my precious time. I watched the video (for free) expecting to see a light, entertaining comedy, but instead viewed a slightly funny and often tasteless, vulgar, and boring movie.
In Monster-in-Law, bride-to-be (Jennifer Lopez) locks horns with her prospective mother-in-law (Jane Fonda) after finding out that the latter is trying to derail her upcoming wedding to the woman's doctor-son (Michael Vartan). Wanda Sykes plays her sassy Black assistant, Ruby, who is probably the most entertaining character of the bunch, but who spits out some rather mean-spirited and crude remarks. The acting is bland, the characters are, for the most part, mean-spirited or blase. The language is often crude and there is some occasional profanity, which was a turn-off. This movie was not horrible, but it wasn't very good. It did offend me, and it wasn't very amusing. Don't waste your time or money.
I give it one * out of a possible *****.
