The Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows

The Seven Sorrows of Our Lady:

1. The prophecy of Simeon (Luke 2:25-35)

2. The flight into Egypt (Matthew 2:13-15)

3. Loss of the Child Jesus for three days (Luke 2:41-50)

4. Mary meets Jesus on his way to Calvary (Luke 23:27-31; John 19:17)

5. Crucifixion and Death of Jesus (John 19:25-30)

6. The body of Jesus being taken from the Cross (Psalm 130; Luke 23:50-54; John 19:31-37)

7. The burial of Jesus (Isaiah 53:8; Luke 23:50-56; John 19:38-42; Mark 15:40-47)

Prayer

O Mary, Mother of Sorrows, I beseech Thee, by the bitter agony thou didst endure at the foot of the Cross offer to the Eternal Father, in my name, thy Beloved Son, Jesus, all covered with Blood and Wounds, in satisfaction for my sins, for the needs of Holy Church, the conversion of sinners, the relief of the Souls in Purgatory and for the special grace I now implore. (Mention your request.)
Amen.

  1. true sorrow...
It appears from the 09/15/05 New York Times report that the Vatican has initiated The Inquisition of the 21st century. I am ashamed to have been baptized a Catholic and, in good conscience, must renounce all association with the Holy See. The Pope has declared a "holy war" and the German Shepard's action legitimizes, and will lead to, the increased persecution and slaughter of gay and lesbian people. The Church is purging its sins of negligence by crucifying a scapegoat, a familiar story to every Christian and Jew. Has a Nazi risen to the Throne of St. Peter? History shows us how the tragedy will end - charred pink triangles scattered amongst the ashes. Others will surely perish too. All who do not speak out against inhumanity share the shame and the sin. Will no one stand up against this horror?
I am in a profound state of fear and despair.

  2. Dear Joe,

It sounds like you are suffering from the effects of the culture of death, which only brings fear and despair. I am sorry to hear that you are hurting so much and clinging to the deception and the lies that it promotes. I will pray that the Lord will remove the scales from your eyes so that you can see clearly His truth. May the peace, the love, the hope, and the joy of the Lord fill your heart.

Merciful Mother, please bring peace to the heart of your son, Joe. Holy Spirit, enlighten him. Remove the scales from his eyes and help him see clearly the truth. Mary, seed of wisdom, pray for him. Merciful Mother, wrap your arms around him and bring him your comfort. Console him and fill his heart with hope. Show him the face of your Son, Jesus, and let him gaze upon the radiance and love in that face. Jesus, shine out upon Joe and fill his heart with your radiant purity and your peace. Beautiful Mother, wrap him in the blanket that you wrapped your Son, Jesus in and draw him close to your heart. Protect him from all evil and let him know the fullness of your love for him. I ask this in the name of your precious Son, Jesus. Amen.

With love from the hearts of Jesus and Mary,
    Jean Marie
